I love making lists and the feeling of accomplishment that accompanies crossing an item off of it! On my 24th birthday, I meditated on what it was that I wanted to DO with my 25th year of existence and thought it would be fun to come up with 24. (Get it!?) I am so excited to get started!
1. Start my own business
Hey! Welcome to the website for my new gig! I have found my passion and want to share it with the world. As I write this, Practice Being is well underway and I couldn't be more excited! Nutrition education is so, so important- I can't stress that enough- and should be available to everyone. That is why I have made my services affordable and offer payment plans, generous referral discounts, and a points system that allows my clients the opportunity to receive free sessions. Please help me spread the word!
2. Receive my Yoga Teacher Certification
I have been a practicing yogi for many years and I knew the first time I stepped on my mat that I wanted to teach. However, I have continued to put it off season after season, year after year, because I've thought that I'm not good enough. I am silencing my ego and doing the damn thing once and for all!
3. Visit another country... for the first time
I can't believe that I have never used a passport! I've lived in Texas my entire life and visited Mexico several times when I was younger, but a passport was never required. I pride myself on being a Global Citizen so it's time to check out the rest of my planet!
4. Go skydiving
Oh yeah! I have heard nothing but amazing things about skydiving and can't wait to jump out of a plane for the first time. I have a feeling that I'm going to absolutely love it- hellllooo new hobby!
5. Go to Wanderlust Festival
I'm all about transformational festivals but I have never been to Wanderlust! Tickets are already purchased for Wanderlust Austin in November so get ready for TONS of pictures and posts!
6. Complete the 40 day Kundalini meditation practice (Liberation Kriya)
Kundalini yoga has always called out to me and I am looking forward to this practice. I'll be posting about this as well, but feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
7. Go to every brewery in the Austin area
I love beer! (Everything in moderation...) Luckily for me, Austin has so many wonderful breweries... most of which I have not toured! UNACCEPTABLE. I plan to change that this year. Let me know if you'd like to come with!
8. Brew my own beer
Like I said, I love beer, and I don't discriminate! I think for my first home brew I'd like to try either an IPA or a sour... decisions, decisions!
9. Visit three new states
Some very dear friends recently moved to Portland, Oregon so my better half and I are planning a road trip of epic proportions! Based on my tentative route, I'll be stopping in more than three new states for me! I can't wait to spend a couple of weeks camping in National Parks, spending time with old friends, and eating amazing food!
10. Complete at least 100 hours of community service
I would like to spend some time giving back to the community that has given me so much. I know 100 hours isn't a whole heck of a lot but it's a starting point! I've been doing some research on which organization I'd like to help and have narrowed it down to a few that help education children about nutrition! I'm very excited to get started!
11. Go to the airport and get on the next (reasonable) flight anywhere
I know this is a silly one but I'm such a planner and like the idea of getting out of my comfort zone, if only for a weekend!
12. Get my splits back
I have always struggled with flexibility, especially in my hips, but I am determined to have all three of my splits back this year!
13. Learn to slack line
I am just amazed by the human body! Slacklining has been on my radar for a long time and I finally invested in one! I have successfully gotten two steps in but I want to be able to walk all the way across! yikes!
14. Grow my own food
Here at Casa de Kethan, we grow herbs in mason jars. Some are successful, others are not. I would like to grow some *real* foods in the front yard this season but we rent the house so I may need to get creative! Any ideas??
15. Ride in a hot air balloon
Yep. I want to do this, too! sigh... so many wonderful things to do!
16. Go to 24 live events
This includes, but is not limited to shows, festivals, plays, and musicals. Part of me thinks this won't be hard, but the more I think about it...
17. Go 3 days without talking
I'm going to go camping by myself for the first time and not talk at all. I do a lot of talking and I think I need to spend some time looking inward.
18. Learn to knit
Hey, they can't all be crazy and exciting! Knitting seams so therapeutic!
19. Go on a rock climbing trip
I used to rock climb all the time and then just sort of stopped. I was thinking about it recently and a friend of mine randomly mentioned that our group should pick it up again. By July of 2015 I would like to spend a weekend rock climbing and camping!
20. Become scuba certified
Most of Ethan's family is scuba certified and I would hate to travel with them and have to take time to get certified while on vacation instead of simply enjoying the underwater world! This is a must!
21. Fly in a helicopter
I love flying so any excuse to be up in the air is a-okay with me!
22. Save some money
With all of these amazing adventures I'll be going on, this one will be tough. But I have a number in my head and will stick to it- putting a little away every month!
23. Go to a new Burning Man Regional
I've been going to Burning Flipside, the Central Texas burn, for the past three years and will continue to go every year that I'm able! However, I really want to experience other burns this year as well! Welcome Home!
24. Learn how to hoop!
Speaking of Burning Man events, I just love all of the incredibly talented hoopers and want to learn so badly! See y'all out on the playa- maybe my hoop will even be on fire!
Well, there you have it! The 24 things I want to do before July 5th, 2015. It's going to be a busy year! I'll be posting updates and new blog posts along the way. What are your plans for the upcoming year? Let's play!
